A High-performance Axe with a Head-turning Satin Finish

The first thing you'll likely notice about the ESP LTD Deluxe H-1001 is its eye-grabbing satin finish — a first for the company's LTD line. This solidbody electric guitar is downright entrancing, as it appears to change color as light reflects from different angles. The LTD Deluxe H-1001 isn't just a tricked-out 4-banger with slick-looking ground effects, however. It's got plenty of horsepower under the hood. For starters, you'll enjoy rapid transit courtesy of a fast-playing maple neck and Macassar ebony fingerboard, and the guitar's set-through design delivers sustain for weeks. Plug into anything with gain, and you'll experience high-octane humbucker tones, thanks to Seymour Duncan. A coil-split also grants access to the full gamut of sonic textures. Top-shelf hardware, including a Hipshot bridge and rock-solid LTD locking tuners, rounds out the LTD Deluxe H-1001's killer features.

Horizon body style is primed for performance

The LTD Deluxe H-1001 features ESP's Horizon body style. At Sweetwater, we appreciate the tone-packed potential of these solidbody electric guitars. Just like ESP's high-end H Series instruments, the LTD Deluxe H-1001 boasts set-through neck construction, which elicits incredible sustain while enhancing articulation and clarity. And its 25.5-inch scale length is perfect for high-gain tones and down-tuned playing, giving you a powerful foundation for modern rock, metal, and fusion. H Series guitars fit you like a glove. Plus, they're lightweight and nicely balanced, so you don't have to expend energy keeping your neck from diving. Try an ESP H Series guitar on for size. You won't look back.

Seymour Duncan humbuckers deliver an array of tonal textures

The ESP LTD Deluxe H-1001 is jam-packed with wide-ranging tone, thanks to its dual Seymour Duncan humbuckers. Its Pegasus bridge pickup is loaded with custom-wound coils and an Alnico V magnet, offering incredible string separation and satisfying tone to match. Its Sentient neck pickup completes the picture, adding harmonic complexity on top of traditional PAF-like voicing. Together, the Pegasus/Sentient duo will help you achieve a whole new level of technical performance. Beyond that, a push-pull pot extends your sonic range with single-coil tones. Both of the LTD Deluxe H-1001's pickups are mounted directly to the guitar’s body to increase its presence and resonance.

Thin "U" neck ensures excellent control, stability, and playability

Playing the LTD Deluxe H-1001 is a treat. Its 3-piece maple neck is cut to a smooth, playable Thin "U" profile. Its 13.7-inch-radius Macassar ebony fingerboard is adorned with 24 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets — a favorite among players in heavy genres. What's more, offset pearloid bar inlays give the LTD Deluxe H-1001 additional visual appeal. The LTD Deluxe H-1001 also features a molded nut and LTD locking tuners for rock-solid tuning stability.

Extremely happy

This is my first guitar in this price range, so don't have a whole lot to compare to. Having said that, I'm super super happy with it. Been playing it for two months now - it feels great to play, it looks great, it sounds great. Love the shape of the body, the neck and fretboard feel really smooth and easy to play. Really enjoying the split coil pickups for different sounds. It was set up very well, barely had to tune it out of the box and no issues have come up in the two months since. Plus it's just really pretty.

Finally a neck-thru guitar worthy of dethroning my Ibanez.

I've finally found a guitar that is as buttery smooth as my slightly modded 2006 Ibanez RGT42DXFX (Korea) is. I've tried countless Japanese, Korean, and Indonesian guitars from various companies (Schecter, ESP, PRS, Ibanez, Chapman) and none of them have come close to the playability of Ibanez until this. Initially when the guitar was first teased I was worried that it would be a Indonesian made guitar like everyone is going to or would not have stainless frets like most Korean made LTDs seem to lack, but luckily that was not the case.

Pickups are nice and fat, more of a chugging tone than the SD Nazgul in my Ibanez but seems tighter than the SD JB4 in my Schecter probably since the mids seem more scooped. The resonance of the guitar both plugged in and unplugged is massive.

The Hipshot bridge compared to the Schecter KM6 MK2 has a much nicer feel. The edge of the bridge when palm muting won the Schecter would scratch/dig into your hand, this one is much more rounded and smooth. The volume potentiometer is nice, however the coil tappable tone feels a bit wobbly. It is secured well to the body and the knob is tight, but it has some play. The three-way switch feels nice and defined but not overly firm to switch. The knobs are a little crooked/off when rotating like the hole was drilled slightly angled or off-center. The knurling is enough to not slip but could be a bit better as the volume pot is a little tight (preferred for swells). Easy to replace these though.

The paint finish feels nice and slick however the one I received does have blemishes and some spots feel like it has overspray. However it looks great, and unless you're looking closely it is not noticeable.

I have not swapped strings yet so can't comment on the locking aspect of the tuners however they are easy to tune precisely (the KM6 MK3 round knobs were a bit odd.)

The frets compared to nickel are like playing on ice... there is nearly no friction doing bends are sliding to different frets. In standard and D standard tuning I've not noticed any dead/high/low frets. Glow in the dark side dots would have been nice but I never use them anyways. I have not noticed the nut binding when tuning as of right now but it would have been nice to have a straighter string break and/or a graphite/tusq nut. The neck-thru feels great and the tuning stability seems much better than the KM6 MK2.

(Oh yeah, it likes fingerprints)

Excellent for the money

I had Sweetwater set the guitar up for Drop-C and they did an excellent job. I like this guitar a lot. The split coil sounds are okay not great but I use mostly the bridge pickup and it delivers.

Love my new LTD Deluxe!

This guitar is worth the wait, and I'm very pleased with the price I paid. I have also, a cheap Dean Evo, 02 MiK LTD M-250(modded), 13 MiJ Edwards pink alexi, and a couple acoustics and projects that aren't worth mentioning. I think the total time waited for delivery to my door was about 4 months maybe? A couple delays, but NBD, I already expected delays because of being a new model, per se. Again, I would wait months again for this guitar.

The comfort and playability on this guitar is better than any others in my list. This is by far the lightest, which doesn't detract from its resonance. The neck feels wonderful, flattening a bit as you move up. The stainless frets might be the best feature of this guitar. The fit and trim is super comfortable, not one sharp fret, and these bend like soft butter. Smooth, controllable bends; comfortable from top to bottom. The ebony is of course nice, but I would have preferred a touch darker.

The pickups sound great, and coil tap is something I wanted. The sound of the bridge pickup attack is crisp, bright, but not too bright, and pairs with palm muting perfectly. The neck pickup with the coil tap is what I've been looking for. Very modern metal sounding, and almost sounds a touch louder than humbucking. The tonal variety this guitar offers is second to none. Ok ok, maybe not truly that great, but without tripling or more its price, I believe it second to none in comparable models.

The finish is the final category, and of course the violet Andromeda satin is pretty wild. This color will change in different lighting, to where I have seen a super bright royal blue, in an instant, change to a deep purple, reddish beauty. If you wanted a chameleon paint job, this would not disappoint. The guitar is not bound, but there is a black line on the borders.

Truly, the only thing negative i can say, is there are a few little black spots on the paint, so minimal, but I noticed. Smaller than a pen head, my guess is little pieces of dirt in the paint that flaked off, leaving behind the black under coat. The offset fret inlays took a bit of getting used to, but comes very quickly.

All in all, this guitar checked every box for me. Ebony, non tremolo, set or thru neck, direct mount pickups, coil tap, arch top. The finish was just the plus that made me finally pull the trigger. I would do it again, this guitar being my daily driver, was well worth the price and the wait.

I have now 3 ESP products from different decades and different plants. These guitars all hit well above mark for their price point, and I plan on being a lifetime customer.

Thanks ESP and Sweetwater for helping me find a **** near perfect instrument.

Be ready to send it back/do a couple set ups to get this guitar right

I had to return the first guitar I received because it arrived with a warped neck. Frets buzzing like crazy. Sent that back and got a replacement. The replacement guitar arrived in better condition, but I'm starting to notice that LTD guitars do not have good quality control coming out of their factories. Edges of the neck/frets are sloppily done, slight blemishes on the higher frets. I'd expect this level of detail in a $ guitar. Not $. Anyways, after about 8 months trying to fix a broken guitar, sending it back, getting a replacement & fixing up this one to my exact specifications - I'd wont be buying LTD products again. If you want quality, save up some money and get a handcrafted guitar! Also - sweetwater has the best customer service experience, very helpful every step of the way.
